December 9, 2009: Software receives international accreditation
Building on its existing software accreditations, weighing solution provider Avery Weigh-Tronix has gained Class A certification for its software development from one of the world’s leading computer science institutions.
The Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute (SEI), based in Pittsburgh, USA, awarded recognition in September 2009 that Avery Weigh-Tronix has achieved Level 3 compliance with the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Model v1.2.
Gaining Level 3 Certification places the software development process within Avery Weigh-Tronix at the same level of CMMI compliance as parts of organisations such as Accenture, Boeing, CSC, Fujitsu, HP, Hitachi, IBM, NCR and SAP.
The SEI is a US government-funded part of Carnegie Mellon University. It works closely with defense and government organisations, industry and academia to continually improve software-intensive systems, helping organisations to improve their software engineering capabilities.
